Mass Vaccination at University of Missouri St. Louis

It was announced last week that the state has committed to providing at least 3,000 doses of vaccine per week. This will assist in our aggressive push to get as many people vaccinated as possible at several locations throughout St. Louis County. Those include a large-scale vaccination sites at Florissant Valley Community College in Ferguson, the health department in Berkeley and four fire districts – Eureka, Affton, Mehlville and Pattonville. It is anticipated that strong community partnerships like these will continue to grow as vaccine distribution increases.

In addition, St. Louis County is partnering with the Missouri National Guard, the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the State Emergency Management Agency to conduct a mass vaccination event at the UMSL campus this Saturday. Approximately 2,200 doses are expected to be administered at the event and this will be in addition to what the state provides St. Louis County in its weekly distribution.

Registration is required for this event. Anyone who is interested in participating should sign up on the state’s vaccine website, www.covidvaccine.mo.gov. Click on the “Register Now” button. People who register starting tomorrow may select Saturday’s event, but anyone who completes the registration process will be considered depending on whether they fall into an eligible tier as defined by the state. Those who are offered appointments will receive an email with instructions.

Again, no walk-up service is available at this event. Only those registered will be seen. Depending on demand, which we anticipate will be extremely high, it’s a possibility that some people who have signed up with St. Louis County may be offered reservations Saturday.  To sign up with the County, go to www.stlcorona.com and click on “COVID-19 Vaccination Pre-Registration.”

As a reminder, we are only vaccinating individuals who fall into the categories that the state has determined can qualify to receive the vaccine – that’s Phase 1A and Phase 1B Tier 1 and Tier 2. Please be patient as the demand for the vaccines far outweighs the supply.

Please continue to practicing personal protective measures and follow the guidelines that keep us all safe.
